Taking Care of Children

At Kalmor Dental, our staff will do everything they can to make you feel at home during your visit.

Dr. Matthew Coplin

As a graduate of the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Matthew Coplin knows the importance of keeping your teeth healthy. His love of treating the young came from working with the Native Americans in Belcourt, North Dakota and the underserved in Yuma, Arizona.

Dr. Coplin has been serving the Montana dental community since 2004. He is a proud member of the American Dental Association, the Montana State Dental Association, and the local Helena Dental Society. His pursuit of dental excellence is reflected in the frequent continuing education courses he takes to stay abreast of the latest trends and technology in the dental field.

The Straw House

Our Surgical Suite

Kalmor Dental employs digital radiology, Kavo’s Diagnodent, and other means to first find and then diagnose the condition.

Quiet electric handpieces and high speed curing lights allow a more comfortable and shorter time in the chair. Nitrous oxide, sedation, and other techniques are used to ensure patient comfort.

Once a diagnosis has been made, it is important to work with both the parent and child to reach a conclusion that results in the best outcome for the child.

Options are important, because oft-times, there is more than one right way to treat the child. From fillings to extractions to even doing nothing, options are important.

One of the biggest options to choose is how to manage the child for treatment. Kalmor Dental is the only children’s clinic in Helena to offer nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation, IV sedation, in office general anesthesia, and hospital care.

Dr. Coplin takes pride in treating the children of Montana and providing them with one of the most advanced and environmentally friendly children’s clinics in the State and Nation. Dr. Coplin has created a children’s clinic that is both state-of-the-art and environmentally-friendly.

Located in a converted grocery store, the walls are literally made of straw bales and designed to be as energy efficient as possible. Heating and cooling is done by geothermal heat pumps and most of the building’s energy usage is generated by the solar panel mounted on the roof. The green theme is evident inside with recyclable carpet, non-VOC paint, sustainable flooring, and an on-demand water heater. Our treatment is considered green with a digital front and back office, waterless vacuum, digital radiography, mercury free fillings, and steam sterilization.

Most importantly, we have found that by being green, we save green and pass those savings on to you in the form of lower treatment fees.
