Helena Children’s Restorative Dentistry
Repairing & Rejuvenating Smiles
Children are subject to many of the same dental problems faced by adults, so just like their parents, they often need a bit of restorative dentistry to help with a few cavities or broken teeth from time to time. At Kalmor Dental, Dr. Matthew Coplin provides custom-made restorations for every child that are designed to restore the strength and beauty of their smile at the same time. Does your child have a few problem teeth that need to be repaired? We’re ready to help, so contact us today.
A crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” we can use to fix a tooth with a large cavity, hold a weakened tooth together, or even cosmetically enhance an undersized or oddly-shaped tooth. They can be made of a variety of materials ranging from all-metal to all-porcelain depending on which tooth needs to be repaired. And, if your child is missing a single tooth or a few in a row, we can also create a prosthetic flexible partial to close the gap.
Amalgam is the material traditional fillings are made out of, and this concerns many parents because not only does it affect the appearance of a tooth, but it also contains mercury. This is why Kalmor Dental only uses amalgam-free fillings that can be specially shaded to blend into your child’s smile.
Sometimes, an overbearing gum line can cause the teeth to look too short or stubby, and it can also make a child more susceptible to developing gum disease. Fortunately, Dr. Coplin can easily address this problem using a procedure called gum recontouring. With it, he’ll be able to remove any excess gum tissue to make your child’s teeth appear longer and give them that perfectly proportioned look. Usually, this can be accomplished in just one appointment.
